Tyranny: Unveiling the Light
July 22, 2023
Tyranny: Unveiling the Light is a virtual reality experience that takes you on an emotional adventure. We have designed narrow spaces and eerie whispers to create a sense of anxiety during the journey in Unreal Engine. In this VR experience, you will encounter various mannequins placed throughout the scene. Some will be struggling to climb mountains, symbolizing the challenges faced by those from lower classes. The project aims to show you how class differences can feel in an authoritarian society.
Softwares
Unreal Engine 5, Blender, Adobe Premier Pro

Process
We built the scene in a way that allows people to get into a mood while searching for light on the map. To achieve this, in level design I emphasized on a landscape that reflects sociopolitical environment of the people which may be class differences, oppression and etc. Additionally, we strategically placed mannequins that I had rigged into several poses using Blender. The challenging parts were the material tweaks for ocean(we utilized a fluid flux water system based on 2D shallow-water simulations) and sand which we produced from scratch in Unreal Engine 5.

In the VR experience, it was crucial to evoke feelings of anxiety and depression to help people grasp the idea as effectively as possible. Therefore, we utilized an ultra dynamic sky (UDS) plug-in for creating both volumetric and realistic foggy atmosphere and incorporated somber rock formations from Quixel Bridge in Unreal Engine 5. The assets from Quixel Bridge helped us to have optimized scene and we didn’t encounter any lag issues on the VR headset.
Dancing in Dimensions: Audioreactive Generative Art
October 1, 2023
‘‘Dancing in Dimensions’’ is a generative art project that can be used in music-related environments. With its audioreactive mechanism, any song can be integrated into the project. I’m inspired by my 3D background and the audiovisuals that I’ve been interested in for a couple years.
Softwares
Touchdesigner, Adobe Premier Pro

Process
I started to import my model from Mixamo into Touchdesigner. When I placed my camera and lighting set up, it was time to animate the model with beatCHOP and mathCHOP components. Utilizing displacement and noise modifiers, I almost finalized the animation. Lastly, I imported the audio file and by using keyboard inputs, the animation became audioreactive.

In order to achieve 3D illusion, I used GLSL based generative code system in Touchdesigner. This allowed me to control the background the way I want as easily as possible. Additionally, with some color ramp and transform components I ended up with a finalized output.
Coastal Illusions
November 15, 2023
Delikli Bay is a landscape gem where I was raised up close by. It is a rock-formatted terrain in Cesme, Izmir. The idea was to inspire the form of this natural wonder and combine it with immersive technologies like Augmented Reality.
Softwares
Lens Studio Snap AR, Blender, Adobe Premier Pro

Process
Modelled the 3D object inspired by the territory’s linear based form using displacement modifier in Blender. For the texture, it needed to reflect the Aegean Sea and the entire terrain. Therefore, I prepared a custom material set up in the Lens Studio graph editor which is a Unity based shader system.

In Lens Studio, I worked on a material that reflects the color tones of the Delikli Bay area. Additionally, I deliberately made the 3D sculpture transparent to ensure it blends harmoniously with the landscape and works as a whole.
